Weekend closures for A472 Ystrad Mynach

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 14:16, Tuesday April 17th, 2012.
Last updated: 17:29, Tuesday April 17th, 2012

A section of the A472 in Ystrad Mynach will be closed to traffic over the next two weekends.

Diversions will be in place to allow the closure of the A472 (Cwm Du to Royal Oak Roundabout) for the weekends of April 21 and 22 and April 28 and 29.

The Royal Oak roundabout and the connection between the roundabout and the A469 will be closed on both weekends.

Access to Ystrad Mynach town centre will remain open except from Royal Oak roundabout. Buses will still operate with appropriate changes to route. Access to Royal Oak Public House will be maintained from Commercial Street.

Actual closure points will be Caerphilly Road south (north of Rugby Club access), Tredomen Road / Caerphilly Road north (below access to Holy Trinity Church) and Commercial Street (south of workman’s hall). The A469 junction at roundabout with A472 west bound will also be closed.

HGVs will be required to divert via Tredomen roundabout – Gelligaer – Penpedairheol – and back on Hengoed Rd to north of Hengoed viaduct because of height and weight restrictions.

Motorists are urged to avoid the area if possible and find alternate routes.
