Concern grows for missing Abertridwr pensioner Trevor Elias

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 09:19, Friday April 20th, 2012.

Trevor Elias has been missing for almost a fortnight from his Abertridwr home

Concern is growing for a missing pensioner who disappeared almost a fortnight ago from his home in Abertridwr.

Well-known Trevor Elias, 77, was reported missing from his home in Abertridwr on Saturday April 7.

Police have conducted extensive searches around the village and the wider area including Caerphilly town and have conducted door-to-door enquiries.

But there has been no sign of Mr Elias, who is renowned for his love of horse racing and sense of humour.

During the last fortnight the police helicopter has been used several times to conduct searches and the police have even called in the Brecon Mountain Rescue team to help look on the surrounding mountains.

Villagers have also been conducting their own searches and have rallied together.

On Sunday April 15, more than 300 people attended a candlelit vigil at Abertridwr Square for Mr Elias.

They have made and distributed posters and have also started selling yellow ribbons to raise money in honour of the missing man.

Mr Elias is described as being approximately 6ft tall, very thin build, and has brown short hair. He wears glasses.

A Gwent Police spokesman said: “Officers have been working closely with the community to gain any information which could assist in the location of Mr Elias. Actions have and continue to be carried out and reviewed daily. Anyone who sees Mr Elias or has information about his whereabouts is asked to contact Gwent Police on 101.”
