A Llanbradach woman has been ordered to pay £300 for letting her dog foul on the pavement.

Rachel Fletcher of High Street, Llanbradach was taken to court by Caerphilly County Borough Council after she failed to pay Fixed Penalty Notice issued by one of its Environmental Enforcement Officer.

The case was heard at Caerphilly Magistrates’ Court on May 1.Fletcher did not attend and the case was proven in her absence.

She has been ordered to pay a £200 fine, together with £85 prosecution costs and a £15 victim surcharge.

Rob Hartshorn, the council’s head of public protection said: “There is no excuse for allowing a dog to foul on public land and then fail to pick it up. As a council we have a zero tolerance stance towards such behaviour and those responsible will face consequences for their actions.

“Where non-payment of a Fixed Penalty Notice occurs, we pursue the matter through court without exception. I hope that prosecutions such as this show the very small minority that failing to take their environmental responsibilities seriously could cost them dearly.”
