Win a pair of tickets to see Allan Yn Y Fan at Blackwood Miners’ Institute

Allan Yn Y Fan

On Saturday May 12, Wales’ leading Celtic Music band Allan Yn Y Fan will return to Blackwood Miners’ Institute to perform tracks from their brand new album – Pwnco.

Allan Yn Y Fan is a Gwent based, multi-instrumental quintet (fiddle, flutes, recorders, penny and Low whistles, accordion, mandolin, mandola, guitar, bass, bouzouki and bodhran), famed for their fiery instrumentals and beautiful vocals.

They have been touring internationally since 1996, performing concerts in the Czech Republic, France, Germany and Luxembourg.

The band have toured Wales extensively with tracks from their previous albums and last Autumn they completed eight sold out concerts in England and Wales with Welsh entertainment legend Max Boyce, who simply says that they are “inspirational!”

Allan Yn Y Fan are passionate about their musical heritage and it’s that enthusiasm and energy which can melt even the hearts of folk haters.

Band member Geoff Crips explains: “We’re passionate about bringing Wales’ traditional folk music to a wider audience, making it contemporary and relevant to today, and we have a lot of fun doing so. Most of our old tunes are steeped in story and history, and as we get out and about sharing our music with the world, we like to put our stories and experiences back into the music. It makes for a rich tapestry and an interesting life!”

They will perform at Blackwood Miners’ Institute on Saturday May 12 at 7.30pm.
