Caerphilly Plaid Cymru to elect new leader on Monday

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 12:59, Friday May 11th, 2012.

Plaid Cymru members in Caerphilly County Borough will on Monday evening choose their new leader following last week’s council elections.

Nominations close on Friday evening and members of the 20-strong group will decide who should replace Allan Pritchard.

Deputy Leader Councillor Colin Mann said: “I would first like to pay tribute to the leadership and commitment of Allan Pritchard as leader. He worked tirelessly for the people of the county borough and his contribution will not be forgotten. I’d also like to thank all the Plaid councillors who worked very hard over four years, in particular those who were not elected last week.

“Despite the election result, Plaid still has a strong base to build and whoever is chosen as leader to follow Allan will lead a team of councillors determined to win back control of the council at the elections in 2017.

“The Labour Party has made many promises and Plaid councillors are determined they will be held to account for their actions.”
