Caerphilly X Factor singer hits back at newspaper claims

An X Factor contestant from Caerphilly has hit back at newspaper claims she threw her microphone down when show judges labelled her “average”.

Zoe Alexander, 22, is alleged to have thrown the mic in disgust and turned the air blue with a four-letter tirade when head judge Gary Barlow called a halt to her audition in Cardiff on Sunday.

The Take That singer reportedly stopped the audition with fellow judge Louis Walsh joining him in criticism.

But the singer, a professional Pink impersonator, said that show producers had set her up by insisting she sing one of the American star’s songs.

She told the Press Association: “It wasn’t a song I was going to do. I wanted to do Jessie J. I didn’t feel comfortable.

“They humiliated me in front of thousands of people. But I make my living doing Pink routines and I’m good at it.

“I went out on stage and Gary Barlow put his hand up in just 30 seconds. They all seemed to have a really awful attitude towards me.”

The singer, who has made national newspaper headlines since the pre-recorded audition, added: “I did swear, but I was referring to the X Factor and the company, not the audience.”

Ms Alexander said she dropped the mic and that the experience was the “most humiliating day of my life”.

Sorry, but after watching it yesterday I disagree. You threw the mic, had a temper tantrum. Pushed the poor cameraman out the way, punched another camera. "Most humiliating day of your life?" you humiliated yourself!

I bet business dries up now, awful reaction to the judges comments, and most people had the same views as them.

One day, when you mature, you will reflect upon the way you represented your family, your friends, community, town and country. We have all done silly things. Should you ever have a family of your own please instil in them a sense of honour and responsibility. I hope that the experience has given you a broader sense of how to behave. Sincere best wishes.

I look forward to the next 'Britain's Got Talent' as I'm sure there'll be a family trio doing Tom, Shania and Pink if they are so good.
