A new mixed Caerphilly choir is appealing for members.

The Caerphilly Community Chorus is aimed at adults and youngsters aged over 15.

Unlike Treharris X-Factor star Lloyd Daniels, new choir members will not have to go through any auditions.

People who are interested can go to a taster session at 7.30pm on Friday September 18 at the Vanguard Centre, United Reformed Church, Van Road, Caerphilly

Rehearsals for the new choir will then take place every Friday at the venue between 7.30pm and 9pm.

The choir’s founder and musical director Nigel Jones recently retired from the Caerphilly Music Service and wants to use his experience and expertise in the community.

He said: “I hope that many people with or without previous choral experience will come and join us.

“The choir’s repertoire will include classical works, world music, music theatre and popular songs and, of course, Welsh music.

“We aim to cover a wide range of styles. Having rehearsals on Friday evening is a great way to start the weekend on a high note.”

People interested should contact 0779 420 9918 or 02920 866578.
