Sensory garden opens at Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 15:06, Tuesday July 24th, 2012.

A new sensory garden has been opened at Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr.

The garden opening, which is part of the Palliative Care Day Unit at the hospital, was attended by GE Aviation Vice President Tony Aiello, GE Wales volunteers and staff, members of the Aneurin Bevan Local Health Board, staff from St David’s Foundation and other members of the community.

The aim of the garden is for it to be a place where patients can relax.

Caerphilly AM Jeff Cuthbert recently attended the official opening.

He said: “I found the opening of the St David’s Foundation Sensory Garden a memorable and moving experience. It’s a brilliant idea and so many people worked hard to ensure its completion. The garden is a real labour of love and I’ve no doubt that it will provide a quiet place that will be a comfort for so many people over years to come.”

If I were really ill, I would rather go to Cardiff.
