Welsh Gold medallists Geraint Thomas and Tom James have been added to the display of Royal Mail stamps, commemorating Team GB’s golden achievements in London 2012.

Each time a Team GB member wins a gold medal the Royall Mail produces a commemorative stamp with the medallist’s portrait.

All the stamps are being displayed in the Senedd and so far include Welsh cyclist Geraint Thomas and rower Tom James.

“It’s a massive achievement to win gold medals in any Olympic Games,” said Presiding Officer Rosemary Butler.

“But both Geraint and Tom have now won Gold medals in consecutive Olympics which just demonstrates a level of commitment that is an inspiration to us all.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate all Welsh athletes who have participated, or who are about to participate, in the Olympics.

“In particular, Chris Bartley, who won Wales’s first medal, when Team GB finished second in the men’s lightweight rowing fours.

“But wherever our Welsh Olympians finish, they are doing Wales proud and providing our youngsters with role models that will hopefully lay the foundations for future success in the world of sport.”
