A TV production company based in New Tredegar has been nominated for a Welsh BAFTA
The company’s first series of Rhod Gilbert’s Work Experience, which aired on BBC2 has been tipped for Best Factual Program, beating a wide range of programming and making it to the final three.
Rhys Waters, co-producer on the series, said: “I still can’t quite believe it, this was the first series we ever made and it’s unreal that we got this nomination.
“To get this recognition so early in our careers is a massive boost, it just makes us want to work harder and keep developing our skills.
The series saw comedian Rhod Gilbert attempt different jobs across Wales, becoming a binman, mum, hairdresser and soldier. After a well-received welsh broadcast BBC 2 commissioners, who wanted it shown UK wide on BBC 2, picked up the series.
Zipline will find out if it has won on May the 29 at a ceremony in the Wales Millennium Centre, in Cardiff.
The company is up against BBC Wales flagship ‘Snowdonia 1890’ and S4C’s ‘Y Fenai’.
Mr Waters added: “Getting the nomination has been a big buzz, we would love to win against these high profile shows, but just being included in this line up has been an honour.”
Zipline, working with Presentable RDF has just finished a successful run of Series 2 of Rhod Gilberts Work Experience on BBC Wales and BBC 2.
The new series saw Rhod take on the roles of farmer, butler, tattoo artist and fireman and was broadcast from March 2011.
Based in New Tredegar, Zipline has been running since 2008 and makes a wide range of films for TV, internet and brands like Aston Martin.
The company has previously worked with Gilbert producing his extras for his stand-up DVD.
