Two cousins are hoping their new chip shop will be the Plaice to be in Caerphilly town

Ibrar Khan, 27 and cousin Naz Khan, 40, have opened Mr Chippy on Clive Street serving traditional fish and chips as well as a host of other takeaway fare.

Trainee solicitor Ibrar, who is from Cardiff, said: “My father-in-law lives here and he said we would do pretty well because there is nobody else like us.

“Our first week was amazing and all the feedback we’ve had has been pretty good so far. We’ve had a very warm welcome from everybody.”

The new chip shop is the cousins’ third following ones in Porth and Whitchurch and is change of a career for Ibrar.

He said: “I did a post-graduate in law but in the current climate I couldn’t find a job. Naz, who has been running fish and chip shops all his life, got me involved and we’ve done pretty well so far. I don’t see the need to go back to law and I’m really enjoying this.”

Mr Chippy is now open at 5 Clive Street, Caerphilly, and for more information please call 029 20 849021.
