Etta Mae’s Twyn Community Centre event hopes to inspire

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 15:21, Wednesday August 15th, 2012.

A diverse and eclectic range of activities from magic wand-making to bellydancing will be available for the public to try at an event at the Twyn Community Centre, Caerphilly, this Saturday.

Organised by local tarot reader Etta Mae, the Inspire Event begins at 10am and is hoping to attract a wide audience.

Etta, who will be running a beginner’s tarot workshop on the day, said: “It’s our first event and hopefully one of many. It’s a day for all the family with plenty of activities, stalls and demonstrations.

“We’ll have a market area with 25 stalls with local businesses and plenty of workshops

“We’ve tried to pitch it so that it’s not too esoteric or ‘spooky’.”

Among the activities, workshops, talks, and demonstrations, there will be:

The Ethical Chef Deri Reed, holistic therapies, aura photography, psychic readings, palmistry, bellydancing, facepainting and music.

There will also be plenty for children to do with workshops based around the mythical beasts of Wales.

“I’ve always wanted to run this type of event,” said Etta. “I’ve been to a lot over the years and they’re always quite boring. You spend your money to get in and then there’s people trying to sell you stuff.

“I wanted to do something that gets people involved and inspired.”

  • Etta Mae’s Inspire Event is taking place on Saturday August 18, 2012, at the Twyn Community Centre, Caerphilly. Entry is £2.75, £2 concessions and children under 14 go free. For more information and a full line-up visit www.walesinspire.com.
