A pensioner was caught sunbathing in the nude next to a public footpath in full view of passers-by.

Samuel Reid, 69, of James Street, Llanbradach, was topping up his tan in Caerphilly on July 27 fully exposed, and was arrested for a public nuisance offence under common law.

Reid appeared at Caerphilly Magistrates’ Court on Monday August 13 and admitted the offence.

He was given a conditional 12-month discharge and ordered to pay prosecution costs of £85 by September 10 this year.

Was this guy running up and down the lanes? Was he threatening anyone? If not then what harm was he doing? These charges are totally over the top but then not unexpected in this prudish world. So what if he is a nudist. I wouldn't do it but why are we not yet at ease with those who want to?

Why was he in full view? Take reasonable steps to shield his garden and then I don't see why there should be a problem. If he cannot afford fencing, plant a hedge.
