Caerphilly Youth Forum raise £410 for mayor’s charities

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 16:00, Tuesday August 21st, 2012.

Members of Caerphilly Youth Forum scrubbed their way to nearly £410 washing 23 cars in just six hours.

The team held a charity car wash at the council’s headquarters of Ty Penallta recently in aid of the Youth Forum’s chosen charity, Cancer Research Wales and the Mayor’s chosen charities, Ty Hafan and Helping Hands.

Cllr Gaynor Oliver, Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Mayor, said: “The Youth Forum is a wonderful way for young residents to be involved in their community. I am so grateful for their efforts to help raise money for my chosen charities, Helping Hands Rhymney Cancer Self-Help Group and Ty Hafan.”

The Youth Forum provides opportunities for young people in Caerphilly county borough to have a voice on issues that affect them, and to become actively involved in local decision-making.

Each year the Youth Forum chooses a charity to support holding fund raising events throughout the year.
