A TV production company based in Risca has been nominated for its second BAFTA Cymru award.

Zipline Creative’s BBC series Rhod Gilbert’s Work Experience has been nominated in the Best Presenter category.

The show, which has had three series, sees comedian Rhod Gilbert attempt different jobs across Wales. The episode nominated for the award saw Gilbert try his hand at being a tattooist.

Nathan Mackintosh, producer of the series, said: “The viewing figures and audience response has always been really strong, so its great to see the critics give us a nod too.

“Rhod pushed himself to extreme lengths for this episode, he ended up getting a tattoo just to see what it would feel like before he tattooed his first victim. Now that’s what I would call commitment.”

The nomination follows last year’s BAFTA Cymru win for best factual series and a Celtic Media Award for best factual entertainment series.

The third series has just finished its second run on BBC Wales with a UK-wide broadcast on BBC 2 to follow.

It featured Gilbert take on the roles of teacher, zoo keeper, drag artist and police officer.

Rhys Waters, fellow producer on the series, said: “It should be a challenge to keep thinking of interesting new jobs for Rhod, but fans of the show call us all the time with new ideas and inviting Rhod to take on their career next.

“We still have a few idea’s and potential twists up our sleeves for the future.”

Zipline now face a tense wait until the awards on September 30 at Cardiff’s Millenium Centre.
