Caerphilly Council’s Waste Management Team voted best in UK

Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Waste Management team have been named Best Service Team of the Year for Waste Management and Recycling at the Association for Public Service Excellence (APSE) Awards.

APSE is a local government body working with 300 councils throughout the UK.

Councillor David Poole, cabinet member for community and leisure services, said: “The team’s success is no doubt a result of the first class service provided by our helpful, polite and courteous team who are all so passionate about the role they play. And on-going improvements will ensure Caerphilly remains a highly respected Welsh local authority.”

Caerphilly’s Waste Management Team were given the award after consistently achieving high standards. Its work has led the council to be ranked as being one of the highest performers in the UK for recycling and waste management.

Speaking about the awards, APSE chief executive Paul O’Brien said: “The winners of the APSE service awards 2012 are truly the gold medallists of local government. They have strived for excellence in service delivery and put in that extra effort to ensure that they deliver the very best in frontline services.”
