Environment Agency warns of disruption from heavy rain

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 14:04, Thursday October 4th, 2012.

Environment Agency Wales is urging people to be vigilant as heavy showers are forecast across Wales tonight (Thursday) and into Friday.

The rain is expected to fall across south and mid Wales overnight which could lead to localised flooding on low-lying land and roads, and could affect individual properties.

Drivers are also being urged to take extra care as conditions are likely to be particularly hazardous during tomorrow morning’s rush-hour.

The Agency is also warning of further heavy rain which is expected to fall across south and mid Wales overnight on Friday. This is likely to be followed by persistent rain during Sunday which could lead to further disruption from flooding.

People are advised to keep an eye on the forecast, and listen to local news bulletins for details of any disruption in their area, including flood alerts in some areas, which could escalate to flood warnings.

For the latest on flood alerts and warnings go to www.environment-agency.gov.uk/flood or call Floodline on 0845 988 1188.
