A building site manager from Blackwood has won a second award this year for his work.

Paul Phillips, 32, has won an award from the NHBC (National House Building Council) following his success in the first stage of the awards in July, winning a quality award at the House-building industry’s Oscars.

Mr Phillips, who works for developers Lovell, was again recognised for his work on the company’s new Parc Eglwys housing development at Bassaleg near Newport.

The 32 year-old is one of only ten managers in Wales – and just 130 across the UK, to receive the prized accolade in the NHBC Pride in the Job awards.

He said: “To get to this level of recognition makes me feel very proud.

“Winning the seal of excellence is the icing on the cake.”

Neil Jefferson, business development director for the NHBC congratulated Mr Phillips.

He said: “Paul is in a unique position as site manager to positively influence a build.

“The excellent standards at Parc Eglwys have been driven by him. He should be proud of his success.”

Lovell’s regional manager Nick Kurobasa also praised his employee.

He said: “To achieve the Seal of Excellence Award is a tribute to Paul’s outstanding management of the Parc Eglwys development and the first-rate quality of the development’s new homes.”

Paul, who has worked with Lovell since 2008, now goes forward with other regional winners as a candidate for the Supreme Awards in January 2013.
