Islwyn MP Chris Evans has hailed the artistic talent on display in Argoed after visiting Argoed Art Society’s very first Open Art Exhibition.
After presenting prizes to amateur artists at the Argoed Baptist Chapel last week, Mr Evans took a tour of the exhibition to see the artwork presented in the village hall.
Although only established last year, the Argoed Art Society already boasts 20 amateur artists as members and the organisation continues to go from strength to strength.
Speaking after the exhibition, Mr Evans said: “I was delighted to attend the Argoed Art Society’s very first display of their work. It really is remarkable to see just how much artistic talent we have here in Islwyn.
“The confidence and of the artists is fantastic and it was great to see so many people from the local community turn out in support.
“It may have been the society’s first exhibition but I am certain it will not be their last.”
