Caerphilly County Borough has new person in charge of policing the area.
Brandon Williams has taken over from Jon Burley, who had been in the role since 2009,as the area’s new Superintendent.
Superintendent Williams has 27 years of experience in a wide range of policing roles. He recently worked in the Professional Standards unit and has a broad experience of all aspects of policing, including criminal investigation and uniform roles.
He also has a long association with the Caerphilly County Borough having served a number of roles in the area throughout his career.
Superintendent Williams said: “I am looking forward to the challenge of building upon the excellent work that has been done to date in driving down levels of crime and anti-social behaviour within the Caerphilly County Borough.
“This means focussing on priority offenders; those few individuals that are responsible for committing the highest number of crimes.
“By doing this, I hope that we can also reassure local residents, who have the right to feel safe in their own homes and neighbourhoods. That means listening to their concerns and acting upon them.
“Ultimately, I want to be able to protect and reassure local communities, and help them to feel confident about contacting the police, whether they need help or have any information that they think could assist us.”
When, then Inspector, Brandon Williams, was the officer in charge of the Caerphilly Town area, he always ensured his door was open to Residents to discuss issues of concern and of policing in the town. His attitude and commitment to such consultation and communication with the citizens of the Borough was welcome at that time, the same can be said for the outgoing Superintendent Jon Burley, lets hope, even with the new role of Police and Crime Commissioner being introduced after November 12th this year that his hands won`t be tied in respect to what we know to be his view on consulting residents on issues which effect them.
