“Excellent” response to council’s Operation Santa Appeal

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 13:00, Thursday November 22nd, 2012.

Caerphilly County Borough Council has said it has had an excellent response to this year’s Operation Santa charity appeal.

Operation Santa aims to help more than 650 local children who have been nominated by social workers.

People across the county borough can pledge to buy a toy and choose the age, gender and geographical area of the recipient. More than 700 have been pledged so far.

Operation Santa is also pleased once again this year to be helping families who are working with Llamau, Action for Children, Home-Start and Gofal Cymru.

It is easy to get involved – people either call the pledge hotline on 01443 866577 or email operationsanta@caerphilly.gov.uk and pledge to buy a present for a child. The pledge hotline will be open until Friday November 23.

Once a pledge is made, that person has to buy the gift and take to one of the collection centres situated across the county borough by Friday December 3

The collection centres are:

  • Barclays Bank, Ystrad Mynach
  • Customer First Blackwood
  • Customer First Pontlottyn
  • Harper and Wallis Estate Agent, Hanbury Road, Bargoed
  • Lloyds TSB Bank, Rhymney
  • Risca Family Centre, Risca
  • Visit Caerphilly Centre, The Twyn, Caerphilly
