Stephen Thomas, 25, is wanted by police after breaching the conditions of his release licence

An Aberbargoed man convicted and sentenced for causing death by careless driving is wanted by police after breaching the terms of his release licence.

Stephen Thomas was serving a five-year prison sentence after being convicted at Cardiff Crown Court on July 7 2008 but was released on licence on November 10 2011.

Thomas was sentenced after 15-year-old Kirsty Myerscough, who was a passenger in his car, was killed as she was thrown from the vehicle after he lost control of it and it went over a banking.

Cardiff Crown Court was told how in August 2008, Thomas had been driving the modified Peugeout 106 sport on the mountain road between Aberbargoed and Tredegar. Friend Nicholas Morris was in the front passenger seat while Ms Myerscough was in the back.

Thomas admitted causing death by dangerous driving while being almost twice over the legal limit. He was also banned from driving for six years.

Thomas is 25 years old and is described as white, approximately 5ft 7in tall and of medium build. He has short, straight brown hair and is known to frequent the Aberbargoed, Blackwood and Oakdale areas.

Anyone with information should Gwent Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
