17 break-ins in Bargoed in 9 weeks

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 13:00, Tuesday December 4th, 2012.

Police in Bargoed are reminding residents to be extra vigilant with the of security of their homes following a recent spate of burglaries.

In the last nine weeks, 17 properties in Bargoed have been targeted in areas including: Bargoed town and Gilfach.

It appears that entry has been gained through removing the rear windows of the property as well as residents leaving windows and doors open and unlocked.

In the majority of burglaries items stolen included gaming consoles, cash, iPads and iPhones. One vehicle was also stolen after the keys were left in the front door of a property.

Bargoed Neighbourhood Policing Team Sergeant, Nic Mancino said: “I would urge home owners to think more carefully about security when going to bed or leaving their property, even if it’s just for a short time. Far too many domestic burglaries are occurring where occupants have left windows open or doors unlocked.

“My message is simple – Do you want your home burgled? If not, help the police by making that extra check which could prevent you from losing cash, bank cards, televisions, computers, jewellery, car keys and your car.”

Anyone caught or any property recovered? Now THAT would be news.
