Hendre Junior School children raise cash for NSPCC and ChildLine

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 14:56, Thursday December 13th, 2012.

Pupils at Hendre Junior School in Caerphilly have raised an impressive £1,900 for the charities NSPCC and ChildLine by taking part in a sponsored dance workout.

Staff and children at the school pulled out all the stops and incorporated the fundraising into a wellbeing week, focussing on the health and wellbeing of themselves and others. During this week, the school participated in the sponsored dance workout, encouraging all involved to lead a more active life.

Cllr Rhianon Passmore, cabinet member for education and lifelong learning, said: “Well done to all at Hendre Juniors for raising such an amazing amount of money. Such generosity will go a long way in helping the children supported by both the NSPCC and ChildLine, and I am proud of the pupils, staff and parents at the school for digging so deep into their pockets.”

Christine Thompson, headteacher at Hendre Junior School, added: “I was very pleased and proud to hear from Mrs. Sara Phillips, NSPCC school organiser, that the school had raised such a magnificent sum. A sincere thank you to all of the children and their families for their outstanding generosity and Mrs Kathrine Hewer for giving so freely of her time to lead the dance work out. Well done Hendre Junior for making such a difference.”
