Members of Caerphilly County Borough Council’s catering team have been nominated in four categories in the Local Authorities Caterers Association Recognition of Excellence Awards.

The team overall has been nominated for Welsh Catering Management Team of the Year and Welsh Regional Marketing Award, while catering staff at Rhymney Comprehensive School have been nominated for the Welsh Secondary School Catering Management Team of the Year award.

Diane Jones, who works at the school, has also been nominated for the Welsh Secondary School Catering Frontline Employee of the Year award, sponsored by McCain.

Cllr Dave Poole, cabinet member for community and leisure services, said: “The nominations for these prestigious awards are well deserved and I would like to personally wish the team the very best of luck. Everyday the management team and the frontline staff who work in the Catering Service ensure that the children in our schools and the staff in our offices are well fed with healthy, nutritious and delicious meals, and I hope that during the award ceremony they receive the recognition they deserve.”

The award ceremony is set to take place on February 7, 2013, at the Vale Hotel.

Apparently, newbridge school started buying the food in ready prepared, I don't know if that has changed at all but previous to that time it was cooked fresh from scratch. Mrs Johnson the cook made superb meals!
