Boy, 17, suffers burns in Blackwood nail bar fire

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 10:09, Tuesday January 8th, 2013.

A 17-year-old boy was taken to hospital after a fire at a Blackwood nail bar.

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service was called to a ground floor fire at Tracey and Chloe’s Nail Bar on Blackwood High Street at around 1.48pm on Friday January 4.

Two crews from Cefn Fforest and Bargoed attended and the fire, believed to have been caused by a cigarette lighter, was extinguished by 2.20pm.

Gwent Police said the teenager suffered superficial burns to his hands, legs and face and was taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital in Newport.

The exact cause of the fire, which damaged a towel and a chair, is being investigated.
