Grants for new Caerphilly businesses available

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 09:00, Wednesday September 30th, 2009.

Business start ups in Caerphilly County Borough are being urged to apply for grant money to help them get off the ground.

The Heads of the Valleys Seed Capital Fund can help new businesses, which are not in the retail sector, meet the cost for computers, equipment, marketing and building works.

Councillor Ron Davies, Caerphilly County Borough Council’s cabinet member for regeneration, said: “New firms need as much support as possible and this new grant scheme will be welcomed by our fledgling businesses, particularly during these difficult economic times.

“The council offers a range of support to local businesses and we are always happy to lend a hand, so our advice is get in touch to find out more.”

The fund has been set up to help residents of the Heads of the Valleys set up a full-time business for the first time and who are not able to access any other sources of funding.

The business must be full-time and established in the Heads of the Valleys area, such as Caerphilly County Borough, and its owner also a resident.

Grants of up to 50% of eligible project costs to a maximum of £2,000 are available.
