Caerphilly AM Jeff Cuthbert will be sponsoring a Big Lottery funding surgery aimed at helping local groups secure funding for projects.
Following a low number of applications from Caerphilly, Mr Cuthbert is keen to redress the balance by working with the Big Lottery to maximise funding potential for community projects in his Caerphilly constituency.
Jeff Cuthbert AM said: “When I realised that applications for Big Lottery funding were low in my constituency I thought it was something that needed to be tackled. I hope these funding surgeries will prove crucial for local community groups in helping them secure vital financial support in these testing times.”
Big Lottery Fund Wales Director, John Rose, said: “We are urging more community groups and projects in Caerphilly to take full advantage of and reap the rewards from our funding programmes. This event provides a golden opportunity for community groups in the area to see what money is available for various projects and how they can apply for funding. Our message is simple – if a group or organisation has a great idea for a project which supports people in communities most in need, then we definitely want to hear from them.”
The funding surgery will take place on Thursday February 14 between 10.30am and 3.30pm at Bargoed YMCA, Aeron Place, Gilfach.
This is a very commendable use of our Assembly Members time and should prove very useful to groups and organisations in the valley, particularly, if, during these consultations, he also finds that he personally can support the various projects brought to him.
His support of the Caerphilly miners Community Centre Project has recently borne very rich fruit for a new, untried, and untested proposal, some of those groups and organisation which have been established for some considerable time in serving the community should be encouraged by Jeff`s support at this surgery.
I wonder if he would consider extending his `advice` to those who attend his surgery, to include, the Welsh Government’s Community Facilities and Activities Programme?, which is the ` headlining financial donor` to the Miners Community Centre Project.
