Avon and Somerset Police are appealing for information to trace two men who have absconded from a South Gloucestershire Open prison.

Stephen Rees, aged 31, and Liam Ahearne, aged 24, absconded from HMP Leyhill at around 9pm on Wednesday January 30, 2013.

Ahearne was serving an indeterminate sentence for aggravated burglary and Rees for wounding.

It is believed they have connections with the South West area as well as the Merthyr area and Rhymney Valley, in particular Blackwood, Markham and Bargoed areas.

Police have said there may be a potential risk to the public.

Anyone who sees these two men or anyone who may know their location is asked to call police on 101.
