A 16-year-old girl was driven to Caerphilly Mountain in a taxi and was sexually assaulted after a night out in Cardiff.

The girl had left Soda Bar, Mill Lane, Cardiff, to catch a taxi from the rank outside. A young man who is believed to be a student also got into the taxi with her between 2.25am and 2.35am on Saturday February 2.

As the girl and the young man got into the taxi, two women, who were also at the rank, took a picture of the taxi as a precaution.

The young man was dropped off near to Cardiff Students Union. The girl was then taken to Caerphilly Mountain where she was sexually assaulted before she was dropped home in the Caerphilly area.

A 36-year-old man from the Cardiff area has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Police are keen to trace and speak to the young man who got into the taxi and the two women who took the photo. Please call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
