Pupils from St Cenydd School, near Trecenydd, have paid a visit to the European Parliament.

Plaid Cymru MEP Jill Evans welcomed pupils and teachers to the Parliament building in Brussels on Tuesday February 19.

They were given a guided tour of the building and held a question and answer session with the MEP.

Ms Evans said: “Young people who come to see how the European Union works are always enthused. I was impressed again today with the interest shown in the work of the parliament and with their knowledge of how important the European Union is for Wales.

“As an MEP my priority is to work for the Welsh national interest. It was so encouraging to debate that with young people from Caerphilly, an area which benefits from so much EU funding.

“With European elections next year we need to be having a national debate on how important the EU is for the Welsh economy and how we can develop our role to build a better future for our communities. These young people are central to building that future.”
