Students from Heolddu Comprehensive in Bargoed have made it through to the next round of a consumer law competition.
The pupils recently beat their rivals from Blackwood Comprehensive in the Young Consumers of Year Caerphilly 2013 Competition.
As winners the Heolddu team will now travel to the Wales finals at Llandrindod Wells on March 12.
The team will have the chance to further practice their skills in preparation for the big finals at the Three Counties Young Consumers Challenge where they will compete with teams from Blaenau Gwent and Torfaen on February 27.
Cllr David Poole, cabinet member for community and leisure services, congratulated the team.
He said: “Well done to the pupils from Heolddu Comprehensive who have shown themselves to have excellent consumer knowledge. I wish them the best of luck for the finals in March.”
The Young Consumer of the Year competition is organised locally by Caerphilly Trading Standards Service and the Trading Standards Institute.
The winners of the Welsh final will travel to the UK National Finals that are to be held at the Trading Standards Institute Conference, which this year will be held in Brighton in June.
