Community groups, organisations, businesses and individuals are being invited to provide sponsorship for paving tiles which will create a ‘Path of Memory’ as a part of the Welsh National Miners Memorial at Senghenydd.

The ‘Path of Memory’ will consist of a circle of paving tiles, each of which will be inscribed with the name of a Welsh Colliery that suffered a mining disaster that resulted in the death of 5 or more miners.

The tiles are to be made by the ceramic artist Ned Heywood, in a similar manner to the name tiles that will make up the Universal Colliery Memorial Wall at the Memorial. Each tile will list the name of the colliery, the date of the disaster and the number of men and boys who lost their lives. The name of the sponsor will also be included on each tile.

The sponsorship of the paving tiles will cost £500. If any business, community group, organisation or individual would like to sponsor a paving tile they should contact the Aber Valley Heritage Museum on 02920 830444/5 or email senghen.heritage@btconnect.com.
