Caerphilly MP Wayne David has backed Prime Minister Gordon Brown during this week’s Labour Party Conference in Brighton.

Mr David spoke to caerphilly.observer following Mr Brown’s keynote speech to conference delegates on Tuesday.

He said: “It was a good speech. It was a speech of an international statesman where he set out his vision of the fight.

“We are entering a long campaign as the underdogs and it is up to us to draw inspiration from Gordon speech today and demonstrate that we believe in ourselves and that we have the same vibrant commitment.

“I’m old enough to remember when the Tories were last in power and the leopard hasn’t changed its spots. I don’t want to go back to what the communities that I represent had to go through under them.”

It's good to know there are still people in power who remember the bad old days of the Tories. The Tories have never done anything for South Wales.
