Tweet #Caerphilly for 'Retweet for Towns Day'

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 15:00, Wednesday March 20th, 2013.

Caerphilly County Borough Council is asking local residents and businesses to talk about their town on Twitter and tell everyone what’s great about it on Thursday March 21 as part of national Retweet for Towns Day.

Last year 130 towns and cities across the UK took part in Retweet for Towns Day. This year, Caerphilly Council is encouraging residents to get Caerphilly trending on Twitter and is calling on people to tweet about what’s important to them and what they love about it.

To get involved on the day simply tweet why you like Caerphilly, making sure you include the hashtags #caerphilly and #rt4towns in your tweets.

Andrew Highway, town centre development manager said: “Caerphilly Council has a huge Twitter following, across our Twitter accounts we have over 8,600 followers. Retweet for Towns Day is an ideal opportunity for people to tweet why our town centres are unique places and it encourages people to support their local town.”

Cllr Ken James, cabinet member for regeneration, planning and sustainable development, said “Retweet for Towns Day is a great idea and gives our Residents the opportunity to tell us why they like their local towns and why they are important to them. The feedback and tweets received from this event will be used to ensure that towns stay vibrant and will remain part of our communities long into the future.”
