Volunteers needed for Pontllanfraith food bank

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 16:01, Friday March 22nd, 2013.

A food bank which supports families and individuals in need of emergency food packages is appealing for volunteers to work at its base at the Tab Life Centre in Pontllanfraith.

With support from Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Town Centre Management Team, a partnership has been created between the food bank and Asda in Blackwood, enabling the group to hold monthly food collections.

However they are still in need for volunteers to help collect, sort and distribute the food parcels.

Cllr Ken James, cabinet member for regeneration, sustainable development and planning, said: “Food banks provide a lifeline to those who are struggling. Volunteering is an incredibly worthwhile activity, even if you can only give up a few hours a month it will help the food bank make the most of their new partnership.”

To volunteer, donate or get more information, please contact Gavin Spencer on 07747 827 253.

Have a car and would be happy to distribute some food packages, assuming all social is being practised to collect and distribute the packages.
