British Transport Police (BTP) is appealing for information after a female member of rail staff was verbally abused by a passenger on board a train.

Officers are appealing for anyone on the service between Penarth and Bargoed between 4.30pm and 5.30pm on Saturday, April 6, to come forward if they witnessed the incident.

Sgt Jonathan Cooze, who is the investigating officers, said: “Members of staff doing their job do not deserve to be subjected to abuse of any description from passengers. Behaviour such as this is completely unacceptable.

“This was a busy train and I believe that a number of passengers on board will have witnessed the incident.

“I would therefore ask anyone with any information, which they believe can assist the investigation, to contact BTP in confidence.”

Anyone who can help should contact British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40, or the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

In all calls, quote reference B6/WWA of 09/04/2013.
