A charitable organisation set up by a local couple is celebrating its first year of fundraising later this week.
Stamtram, which stands for speak to a million to raise a million was set up by Louise Kirton and Jamie Pritchard to raise money for Autism Cymru, Four Paws Animal Rescue, Princes Trust and Ty Hafan. So far is has raised more than £6,000.
An anniversary event will be held in the Fleur De Lys Rugby Club on Friday April 26 and the couple are hoping to celebrate the evening by raising as much money as possible.
Entertaining the crowd will be a well established comedian and two up and coming local singers. Tickets are priced at only £5 each and can be booked in advance or paid for on the night.
The pair have concentrated on raising funds locally during the first year but plan to stretch further afield over the next 12 months.
Louise said “We hope this evening will be another opportunity to raise money for our four charities but equally as important, we want people to have fun.
“When we walk away from a successful evening it makes all the preparations worthwhile knowing that everyone’s contribution is helping to make a real difference. It will be great to have a full house on the night to celebrate the anniversary in style.”
Jamie, who became a councillor for the Morgan Jones ward last year, thanked local people for donating.
He said: “The people of Caerphilly and surrounding area have been great so far and we have been touched by their generosity when fundraising publicly. The event on Friday will be another opportunity for people to enjoy themselves whilst helping our four well respected charities. We’re looking forward to a great night.”
