One of Wales’ most recognised and respected entertainers paid a visit to the popular Intergenerational Club at Lewis School Pengam recently.

Stan Stennett, who is 88 and has been in the entertainment business for 71 years, came along on a very special visit to the pupils and older people who attend the club, bringing his guitar to play a few tunes and sitting down for dinner with the group.

Mr Stennett, who worked with the likes of Laurel and Hardy and Morecambe and Wise, entertained the group with witty anecdotes and jingles that had the crowd clapping and singing along.

He said: “It’s been a while since I’ve been back to the Valleys and it’s great to see some familiar faces in the crowd.”

The popular club encourages older residents of Caerphilly County Borough and school pupils to join together for lunch and activities, with up to 70 residents regularly going along.
