Entries are now open for the annual children’s wheelbarrow competition at Caerphilly Flower Festival.

The annual festival, this year being held on July 6 and 7, is now in its ninth year. Local churches and societies have already started planning their displays and organisers have said this year is set to be “blooming marvellous”.

The theme of this year’s wheelbarrow competition, where children create inspired floral displays, is ‘children’s story time’. Registrations to participate need to be completed by June 28.

The competition is open to individuals and organisations as long as the participants are under 16. The wheelbarrows will be displayed at the Caerphilly Tourist Information Centre during the festival, with visitors being able to vote for their favourite floral wheelbarrow.

To receive an application form and entry criteria information, please email events@caerphilly.gov.uk or contact the council’s events team on 01443 866390.
