New Post Office to open in Senghenydd

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 14:00, Friday May 10th, 2013.

The Post Office has confirmed its branch in Senghenydd will move into a local shop.

The new location for the branch is Cavanna Convenience Store, in Commercial Street and the new-look Post Office will open on Monday May 20.

As part of the move, the Post Office will now be open for an additional 34 hours a week compared to its standalone predecessor in the village’s High Street.

Tony Jones, Post Office Regional Network Manager for Wales, said: “I am delighted to confirm this major investment into our Senghenydd branch as we transform the office into one of our new local style branches.

“We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents in the area and we are confident that this new modern Post Office service will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.”

He added: “This modernisation is part of a three-year investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office, that will see around 6000 branches (about half the Post Office network) converting to new-style branches. This investment makes a commitment to no more branch closure programmes.

“The new service will operate from an open plan counter in an established shop, with a range of key Post Office products and services available alongside retail transactions during opening hours.”

Opening hours at the new location will be 7.30am to 7.30pm between Monday and Saturday. On Sundays, the Post Office will be open between 8am and 1.30pm and 5pm and 7pm.
