Newbridge Library to close and move to Memo

Newbridge Library will be closing its doors on Friday May 24 and will be moving to the ground floor of Celynen Colliery Institute Building – known locally as Newbridge Memo.

Work is nearing completion at the site and the long anticipated opening date is Monday June 24, 2013. 
 
The new facility at the Memo boasts a comprehensive library for people of all ages, self-service book desk, a computer learning suite with study space, 17 free public access computers, printing, photocopying and fax facilities, free WiFi internet access and an events space for talks and community activities.
 
Newbridge Cash Office, which is currently located on High Street will also close on Friday June 21 and reopen in the new Library at the Memo on Monday June 24.  The Cash Office will be run from the library reception area.
 
The library will be opening between 9.30am and 5.30pm on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays and between 9.30am and 7.30pm on Tuesdays. The cash office will be open between 9.30am and 4.30pm on Mondays and Fridays and between 9.30am and 1.30pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

    With caerphilly council taking the libary and cash office into the memo I hope this doesn't mean that eventually caerphilly cbc might try and claim ownership of the building like oakdale hospital because look what happened to that and oakdale stute.

    The miners bought and paid for this building and it belongs to the village.
