Volunteers in Caerphilly needed to raise money for Diabetes UK

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 15:00, Friday May 17th, 2013.

Diabetes UK is looking for volunteers in the Caerphilly County Borough area to help co-ordinate a collection weekend at their local Tesco store.

The Big Collection weekend will take place in Tesco stores on October 4, 5 and 6 with the aim of raising hundreds of thousands of pounds for Diabetes UK, as part of a major national charity partnership between the two organisations.

The partnership aims to make life better for those with the condition or at high risk of developing Type 2 diabetes.

Diabetes UK is recruiting 600 Team Leader Volunteers across the UK and is looking for Team Leaders in Caerphilly to co-ordinate the Big Collection weekend locally.

Diabetes UK Cymru’s Director Dai Williams said: “The Big Collection weekend in Tesco stores is a great way to inform customers about diabetes while raising money for Diabetes UK. But it is only possible with the support of people who give up their time – they will be making a real difference to people with diabetes or those at risk of developing it.”

If you’re interested in volunteering for the Big Collection weekend please visit www.diabetes.org.uk/tesco-collection-weekend. If you have any further questions, contact Sara Moran by emailing sara.moran@diabetes.org.uk or call 029 2066 8276.
