A TV production company based in New Tredegar has scooped a prestigious BAFTA Cymru award.

Zipline Creative’s Nathan Mackintosh and Rhys Waters are celebrating after their win for Rhod Gilbert’s Work Experience in the Best Factual Series category.

The pair, who produced, directed and edited the TV series were invited to attend a black-tie award ceremony at the Welsh Millennium Centre on May 29.

Mr Waters said: “It was a genuine surprise as we were up against tough competition from two other brilliant series nominated in the category.

“It’s a strange feeling to come into work now and see a BAFTA sat on the shelf.

The TV show, made with Welsh production company Presentable, has proven hugely popular in Wales and the rest of the UK.

The first series aired back in January 2010 and series two has only recently finished airing on BBC 2.

Mr Mackintosh added: “Rhod Gilbert’s Work Experience series one was our first as producer/directors, so to win a BAFTA for it feels like a real sense of achievement.

“Making each episode has been brilliant fun with Rhod and the contributors, so we’re watching this space for a third series.”

The first series saw comedian Rhod Gilbert attempt different jobs across Wales, becoming a binman, mum, hairdresser and soldier.

The company has previously worked with Gilbert producing his extras for his stand-up DVD.
Rhod Gilbert And The Cat That Looked Liked Nicholas Lyndhurst is available to buy now.
