News | Richard Gurner | Published: 12:13, Wednesday May 22nd, 2013.

Big Lottery Fund grants of up to £5,000 are being made available to community groups in Caerphilly County Borough.

Caerphilly County Borough Council has teamed up with the Big Lottery Fund to give out up to £25,000 worth of grants.

Under the banner ‘Grab a Grant’, the partnership will see the Big Lottery Fund awarding grants of up to £5,000 to local projects.

Community groups have until Friday June 7 to send in their applications.

Shortlisted projects will then be showcased on the Caerphilly County Borough Council and Big Lottery Fund websites with people voting for their favourite online. The five projects receiving the most support will then be awarded grants.

Grab a Grant is open to any community groups in the Caerphilly County Borough which has an idea for a project which meets at least one of the following criteria: Supports community activity, extends access and participation, increases skill and creativity or generally improves the quality of life of people in the area.

Mike Theodoulou, member of the Big Lottery Fund’s Wales committee, said: “This is a unique opportunity to apply for grants which could make a difference to people’s lives. I would encourage everyone to think about getting involved and apply today.

Cllr Keith Reynolds, Deputy leader of Council, added: “We are delighted to team up with the Big Lottery Fund to offer the chance for community groups in Caerphilly county borough to benefit from lottery good cause funding.”

To find out if your project or idea might qualify for the grant, register and to access the application forms, visit www.biglotteryfund.org.uk/grabagrant or call 0300 123 0735.
