Caerphilly town’s war memorial has become host to flowers and tributes to the victim of the Woolwich attack last Wednesday.

Messages praising Drummer Lee Rigby as a ‘hero’ can be seen surrounding the war memorial in the town centre following his death.

The 25-year-old was stabbed to death in broad daylight near Woolwich barracks.

Relatives of 28-year old Michael Adebolajo, one of the men suspected of killing Lee Rigby, expressed their “profound shame and distress” over the murder of the solider.

He and Michael Adebowale, 22, were both shot by police at the scene of Drummer Rigby’s death after apparently charging towards armed officers.

So far, ten people have been detained for investigation surrounding the solider’s death.
