A company which refurbishes old furniture for resale has opened a new base in Caerphilly town.
Furniture Revival, formerly called Community Furniture Enterprise, is the trading arm of charity Groundwork Caerphilly and has opened a new store in Pentrebane Street. It is the firm’s second centre with the first in being in Rhymney.
The Furniture Revival project helps those on tight budgets and low incomes buy home furniture and electrical appliances.
Items available for resale include bedroom furniture, three-piece suites and kitchen appliances including washing machines, cookers and fridge freezers.
The aim of the shop is to offer essential home furniture and kitchen appliances in revived condition helping families furnish homes for less.
With the help of volunteers through The Conservation Volunteers, support from Travis Perkins, Groundwork Caerphilly as well as local support from other traders on Pentrebane street and the owners of Caerphilly Indoor Market, the new premises on Pentrebane Street took just four weeks to modernise and redecorate.
Ben Rogers, business development and marketing lead for Furniture Revival, said: “This is a vital step forward in response to the current welfare reform changes that local families are being affected by in Caerphilly. We recognise that not all local residents in Caerphilly are able to travel up to our 12,000 square foot reuse shop in the Upper Rhymney Valley. We hope that this shop will increase access of local residents to our services.”
