Caerphilly Council to hold Armed Forces Day parade

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 12:00, Monday June 24th, 2013.

Caerphilly County Borough Council is to host a short parade and flag raising ceremony to mark this year’s Armed Forces Day on Friday June 28.

The short parade, led by the Royal British Legion, will be followed by a flag raising ceremony at Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Penallta House in Ystrad Mynach on Friday at 10am.

Residents are invited to attend the ceremony, which will be led by Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Mayor, Cllr Michael Gray.

Cllr Gray said: “Armed Forces Day provides a fitting opportunity to get together to raise awareness of the contribution made to our country by those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces, and to show our support for all they do. I would encourage as many people as possible to come along and join us as we honour the men and women who make up our Armed Forces community.”

Following the proceedings, guests will be invited to witness the signing of the Caerphilly County Borough Armed Forces Community Covenant, which is a voluntary agreement of mutual support between the Caerphilly county borough civilian community and its local Armed Forces community.
