Gwent Police would like to speak to this man in connection with an arson attack on a Poundstretcher store.

Stephen John Powell, 27, is described as white, 5 ft 10 inches tall and of slim build. He has short/shaved brown hair and blue eyes. He is known locally in Blackwood as “Turkey”.

The early morning fire on May 1 this year, which took place on Wednesday last week, caused so much damage to Blackwood High Street’s Poundstretcher store that the building had to be torn down.

The 2am fire is thought to have begun in rubbish bins outside the shop.

At its height, around 50 firefighters tackled the blaze which took six hours to bring under control. No-one was injured.

Poundstretcher has promised to return to the town while Gwent Police have arrested eight people in connection with the blaze.

If you have information relating to his whereabouts, please call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 quoting log 21 01/05/13.
