Man sentenced for Abercarn waste

A man who illegally dumped waste on a road in Abercarn has been ordered to pay a total of £849.93 by Caerphilly Magistrates’ Court.

Marc Thomas, of Corporation Road, Newport, dumped the waste on land at Rhyswg Road, Abercarn on the May 2012 last year.

The case was heard at Caerphilly Magistrates’ Court on Thursday July 11.

Thomas, 53, admitted a charge under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 and was fined £100 by magistrates..
He was also ordered to pay £734.93 in prosecution costs to Caerphilly County Borough Council and a £15 victim surcharge.

Cllr Dave Poole said: “This is another example of how, as an authority, we will not tolerate the irresponsible actions from any member of the public.”
